The Ultimatum Project
Produced by: Emre Motan
Website: Ultimatum Project
This project aims to create a cross-platform web-based port of Ultima 4, with dedicated apps offering a single gameplay experience on both desktop and mobile devices. As is the case with other reworkings of an Ultima game engine, players are obliged to supply their own game data.
Developer Emre Motan is aiming to offer a complete desktop and mobile experience (with both portrait and landscape modes), touch controls (e.g. tap-to-walk/interact), auto-map and minimap features, an optional overhead dungeon view, contextual actions, a searchable game journal (dialogue, clues, bookmarks, notes), and a conversation system closer to that of Ultima 7. Also on offer are both the EGA and VGA tilesets for the game, and three save slots with optional cloud sync via an Ultimatum account.

Once Ultima 4 is complete, Emre’s goal is to generalize the platform for more Ultima games and other classics — Ultima 5 is already in the works, for example. There’s also an early TestFlight-based iOS build of Ultima 4; you can reach out to Emre at the email address supplied in this Facebook post.
